instead of using RO/DI water, couldnt you just boil water and wait for it to cool? Boiling water is pure....

My thought is it has probably been tried and failed...
There are just some places where cutting costs ends up costing you more...

NO, only the collected steam is pure.

yeah, the only thing boiling the water will do is kill bacteria. The unwanted metals and minerals will be left in... like Hot said, only through distillation can "pure" water be achieved by usuing hea

Yip, thats right. If you got time on your hands, boil a few cups til it dries and that residue thats left in the pot are the dissolved solids.

HA! HA! If you had my well you would know why I will only drink bottled water.
Great house with all the amendities, but a crappy well to fill the pool with.
Thank God they are bringing water lines here next year!!
