I took my water in for testing at the fish store and this is what they got
ph- 7.86
Salinity gravity 1.020
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
KH- 9
They told me to buy Marine Buffer by Seachem so i put in last night 4 level teaspoon for 80 gal of water i also added some salt to raise my Gravity. Today i check the water again about 24 hours later i got
PH- 8.3
Salinity 1.023
KH-15
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0
Will the KH go down by it self ? Please help I use Salifert test kit

what is to high or to low for KH?on the kh test I hold the seringe with the tip facing upward and read the Position of the now upper end of the black part. it reads 0.0 and a half for all you Salifert guys

You don't have CA listed? It plays a role in the equation. I run my alkalinity at 4.00~ DKH of 11.2, with CA at 450. Magnesium is also important..It should be 1300-1500. Get that SG up to 1.025. You could do a water change to lower it..or just give it a few days to come down.. You could use a two part additive, this should balance things out.

they say alk should be
2.5-4 meq/L
7-11 dKH
125-200 ppm CaCO3 equivalents
Its this in the ocean
2.5 meq/L
7 dKH
125 ppm CaCO3 equivalents

10.6 -11.2. In a closed system you want higher alk than NSW.
