Water Tests - How often??

Hey guys.
How often should one do water tests on their aquariums, and what tests should be done on a regular basis?
Case example would be a FOWLR tank.
Thanks.

After you get to know your water and your tank, and the habits of the inhabitants, you can judge for your self. Starting out after the cycle, I tested once a week. Now that I have gotten to know my water quality, pH, alk, etc. I only test when I do a water change. Calcium I test for weekly, Nitrates weekly. ammonia about once a month. Strontium and iodine weekly. silicates I test for monthly.
It all depends on how well you know your tank, but, until you do, I would check weekly, unless problems occur, then I test when ever needed.

also, it's a good idea to test water before adding any new fish/inverts.

I usually test mine once a week or whenever I do a water change, the basic things to test for are Ph, ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite. I also test my salinity too every so often.
