Water weight

Does anyone know how much a gallon of water weighs? I want to buy an 80 gal tank but I don't know if it will weight too much to be supported in my bedroom.

If you figure on using live rock or sand I'd even go as high as 10-12 pounds per gallon. (Not how much the water weighs, as how much the aquarium will weigh when full that is important)
Good luck

Give me the dimentions of the 80 gallon tank. Include the length, width, and depth of the tank, also the glass or acryilic thickness. Tell me what type of substrate you are going to go with and how deep you want that substrate. I'll run it through a calculator for you.

An estimate on a 90 gallon tank with a 1/4 inch glass, and a 2 inch sand bed.
Standard Units
Water Type .................................... Saltwater
Tank Material ................................. Glass
Tank Shape .................................... Rectangle
Length ............................................ 48 in
Width ............................................. 18 in
Height ............................................. 24 in
Wall Thickness ............................... .25 in
Tank Volume .................................. 90 gal (US)
Tank Material Weight ...................... 136 lbf
Water Volume ................................. 85 gal (US)
Water Weight .................................. 722 lbf
Substrate Type ................................. Sand
Substrate Depth ............................... 2 in
Substrate Weight .............................. 92 lbf
Approximate Total Weight ................ 1622 lbf
Approx. Total Fish Length ................ 18 inches of fish
Mass Required for 1 PPM ................ 346.50 mg
Recommended Lighting ..................... 180 total watts
Recommended Pump Flow ............... 613 gallons per hour
I know that I used 80 pounds of sand, but it shows 92 pounds.
Tank material weight says that it is 136 pounds but was told that a 90 gallon is actually 160 pounds dry, so I may have not gotten the glass thickness quite right. I also must have very close to 100 pounds of rock in it as well.
Not sure what the recommended lighting is all about perhaps its for a fish only.
Like it says just an estimate.

The force your tank applies to your floor is the weight divided by the area on the floor that the weight is being distributed across. If you have carpeting, you shouldnt have much of a problem unless you're in a very old house. Just make sure your stand rests evenly across the floor.
