when doing water changes or top offs can i use plain distilled water from wal-mart? if so can you just dump it in right away?

When doing water changes you'll use premixed Salt water to replace the NaCl you removed from the change.. In a top off I use RO water.
I keep two rubbermaids.. One with 40 Gals of Saltwater (covered) and one 20g of RO/DI water (covered)

Expensive.. but safe to use You might be shocked over time how much an RO unit will save you over buying at wal-mart long term.
