Is 270 GPH enough for 75 Gal Reef tank. There is also current from output of my filter.

I would say no. I have about 1,200 GPH in my 75 gallons. I have 2 lax jets 1200, 1-900 & my main Quiet One pump 3000. All on my Red sea wave maker.
I general rule is 10X the tank volume for flow. 15X is better.

You do not need one but the on/off start to kill PH. You can also set the control of the flow and the night timer is nice.
For the $100 for the wavemaker I got, it was well spent money. I used the PH with no wavemaker (only timers) and it worked

"necessary" might be somewhat difficult to prove
I run about 45X flow in my SPS tank without any wavemakers - the outlets are angled toward eachother and create lots of random flow patterns without the need for an expensive "oceans motions" type device..
Don't get me wrong - I think those things are great. Just not "necessary"
AIn sps reefs IMO it's necessary if you're using PHs but any tank with corals will do better with a more natural random flow IMO.

That's why it's IMO but I think most experienced sps keepers would agree.
It has been "proven" that sps corals do better in random flows. Strong directional flow can kill a sps coral. Now if someone is running 45x it's most likely pretty turbulent but how many run that high??

Just reading the beginning of this flame war and thought...what if you didn't have a wavermaker and just threw one of those rotating headcovers on your powerhead....for a 6 dollar part you get a random current and even better having two of them facing off each other from opposite sides of the tank...my 2 pesos

it's a 90 gallon. Yeah - I know, random flow is the way to go..
I get random flow on pretty much every polyp on my SPS. It's just a question of putting enough pipe on your pump. I run an ampmaster 3000 (3600 gph) closed loop. It's split into 4 1" pipes - 1 at each corner pointing toward the middle. The resulting currents created by the mixing flows is pretty random.
Ideally I'd have an OM 4 way hooked up to it. But I'm happy with the way my corals are growing.
Oh - and I didn't see a flame war either. Just 2 people talking shop. What fun would a message board be if we all agreed?
