Wave Making Device

Hey everyone, I am in the process of making my own wavemaking device. I got this idea while looking around on the internet and found a site that looked like a good one. So I'm here to show you the process of me making it so that others that don't want to spend a great amount of money on expensive wavemakers and etc,. This whole ordeal coast me about 12 dollars. Below are the items you will need.
Ceral conatiner (rather large)
Toilet tank float
PVC piping
Toilet Tank flush valve kit
The idea of it is to have a pump fill up the the ceral box making the float to rise. The float is connected to a the chain that comes will the flush valve kit. As water starts to fill the ceral bin the float rises and at a certain point the water "flushes" out creating a powerful surge or "wave" that flows through the the PVC piping and out into the aquarium. You want to have the surge device above the tank so it flows out faster. This is because of gravity. How fast and how much depends on how big is the pipe or how small it is. Like the smaller it is the faster it will come out. Or the bigger it is the slower it will come out but more will come outat once. I will post pics as soon as possible.

Hey LedZep fan I built one of these a few years back but with a 5gal bucket. It was about 4' above the tank and with 2" pipe. It worked rather well. The only draw back was the noise of flushing a toilet every 15 min or so. I had mine on a timer so it would run just a few hours at a time. Oh and there were a lot of bubbles.
I stated with trying the siphon one on the same principal it didn't really work for me. It over filled a few times.

Thanks, ya I thought of that but the tank is built in the wall so the whole device will be in another room so I think I'll been fine
But thanks for the warning. I will undergo the project in less then a week (Have a lot of work to do ) I will tell and show many pictures of what I'm trying to do. Thanks for the replies
