I have recently been interested in wave makers. It seems to me the back and forth movement of the water would place a strain on the stand and the seams of the tank? Am I wrong?? Also how would it work with a corner overflow?? Wouldn't the water sloshing back and forth, not allow the water to drain into the sump properly? I shall do more research.

As long as you have a quality tank it shouldn't be an issue. Wavemakers for the most part are only causing a surge in the tank so the level isn't really changing

From the videos I have seen on U tube...the wave is 1-2 inches..some larger, creating a large surge back and forth.
