Wavemaker?

Anyone use or even heard of a "Wavemaker"? I came across one on Big Al's website (www.bigalsonline.com) and was wondering if it would be good...
"The Natural Wave is a multi-cycle pump timer with six circuits that have timing patterns alternate on/off with adjustable periods of 20 seconds to 3 minutes. The third circuit has a double cycle of 40 seconds to 6 minutes. Connect powerheads or pumps and design the best wave patterns for your aquarium. These circuits provide the optimum flexibility for you to create random circulation patterns. An illuminated indicator lets you know the cycling times. The remaining three outlets are standard power outlets and can be used for accessories such as filters, lights, or heaters."

The particular one you are refering too. I have had a bad experience with. It broke 2 times and all power was lost to it. The timing circuit is not very relaible. I replaced it with a Red Sea Wavemaster Pro and it worked GREAT. Never had any problems with it. Just a little more expensive though.

Would you recommend one? Are they necessary? Do the fish even know the difference? I guess what the problem is, is that I don't really understand what this thing does. lol
