Weak floor disasters?

I have read many threads regarding if certain floors are strong enough to hold tanks, but haven't ever heard any horror stories about actual tanks falling through floors.
Has this happened to anyone? Pictures?
Just seeing if these are urban legends or if this really happens.

I too believe it is urban legend.
Mythbusters needs to do this one.
Im filling up my 150 gallon in the loft of my condo. built in 2006.

I doubt that you will find any that literally "fell thru the floor". But it's no myth....If the structure is not designed to handle the weight, you will have a disaster. It won't be as newsworthy as seeing a youtube video of an aquarium crashing thru a floor, but rather, your tank breaking/leaking due to floors becoming unstable/level. To be honest, if this ever happend to me, I would rather the whole dang thing shoot like Willey Cyote all the way to the basement....verses what would really happen (busted tank....all my fish dead...all my coral dead....hardwood floors ruined....basement flooded).

I agree with T316, I think the whole crashing through the floor is an urban myth. However, if your tank is heavy enough and your floor is not well braced then the floor can become unstable and slightly bend. This will cause the tank to be unlevel which can cause tank seals to start leaking and/or glass break/fracture.
I know one of my stands was unlevel at one time and it made the seal of my 90 gallon aquarium start to leak. Just remember to always try and brace up your floor and/or add 1" of styrofoam underneath the aquarium edges to keep it level long term.

dont want to hijack, but i realized my 36 gallon is slightly off (left side lower than right on stand). would it be prone to leak one day? or cause its only 36 gallons the weight of the water wouldnt matter?

Your floor isn't even...it all depends on how much of a tilt if it will stress the seams....can you take a picture?
On OP...There was a person here on the site..he got a huge tank that lobsters were kept in, and wanted to use it for saltwater fish...he had never done it before...he posted lots of problems mostly because he didn't accept any helpful info and only argued that he thought it would be okay.
Last post I recall told us to never mind, and showed a picture of his tank through the floor. Here is his last post...I looked it up under lobster tank if you want to read the whole thread.

Not thinking anything of it, I simply put the skimmer in a tub, and unplugged the powerhead supplying it.
Then on further inspection, the base of the tanks stand has sunk thru the floor on the right side (side the sump is on)
This has caused the water level to be low on one side, and almost overflowing on the other, a section of glass that holds the middle of the tank together at the top has separated from its silicone grasp, I have drained half the water from the tank, placed a powerhead in the tank to move the remaining water, added a airstone, emptied the sump, two heaters i just got yesterday have both broke (the glass) from being above the water line.
Now I hope to god it stays where it is until i get home from work today.
