I just purchased a seahorse after months of research, but the one i bought is eating live ghost shrimp. I need to wean it off the live shrimp and onto frozen mysid shrimp. If you guys have any ideas or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
My marine aquaria book says they will ONLY eat live foods-so dont know if you can wean them or not!
I suppose you could try mixing in some with the live?

Mine eat frozen. They were eating frozen when I got them though so I can't tell you how to make the transition. Maybe if you can get grumpygils attention he can help. I think he was in the process of teaching his horses to accept frozen.
id say take a frozen mysid shrimp cube, defrost it then add some garlic extreme or another attractant to it and add it in litlle by little.
i just got my mandarin to eat some frozen food without knowing and all it took was garlic extreme
Skip your feeding of ghost shrimp in the morning. In the afternoon thaw a cube of Hikari Mysis shrimp. Soak it in selcon and garli extreme. Then pour it in the tank in front of a powerhead. The head will give it the appearance of swimming. Your horse may go for it thinking the shrimp are alive.
I never understood why people buy seahorses not already on frozen food. They are becoming the norm instead of the rarity.
