Weird algae... hard to get rid of.

Having this new algae problem in our tank. Green specs that collect on the sides. Unlike the other algae we had a while ago, this stuff doesn't scrape off unless you rub the area several times. Have to use the scraper, sponge doesn't work. Feels rough to the touch.
My arm gets SO tired scrubbing this stuff off, and then it's back again in a week. Any alternatives? What am I dealing with here? The snails and sea hare don't seem to be eating any of it (no little trails left behind). I miss the old stuff That was soft and easily removed.

my guess, based on your description and without seeing a picture (which would help) is green coralline algae. Actually a good sign, but is tough to scrape off of the glass. Welcome to the world of a mature tank (and here you thought it was going to get easier). Razor blade works well in glass tank (do not use if your tank is acrylic)

Old plastic credit card works well also.

I would never be able to get pics of it... it's very tiny and hardly noticeable unless there's tons of it. Plus, camera isn't that great. Will try the razor, thanks, tank is glass.
