Weird bubbles on my Xenia

I see these weird whitish bubbles on my Xenia. I don't really know what they are. Maybe new arms?
I noticed a new batch grew from what looked like a purple booger as well from when I moved the original frag. crazy. any Ideas?

yep, they're trying to grow a new stalk out there... often times if that spot touches a rock or something that it can attach to it will connect at that point... then it'll stretch itself and 'snap' off at that section making a new xenia.

I thought I would update. The above Xenia is now attached to two rocks. It didn't even touch the rock. the white bubbles just stretched to the rock and grabbed on. So that kinda sucks seeing as how I plan on re-rockscaping tonight.
But awesomely all of of my Xenia's have 3 or 4 new sprouts sticking out. And I now have 5 separate bunches of Xenia. So pretty so pretty soon I might be overwhelmed.
This stuff grows like weeds! One cluster even grew over a Zoa polyp. completely smothered it. I like it though :)

Is that pulsating Xenia?
I've had Xenia in my tank for about a week. I'm going to shove a rock into it and see if I can get the same results.

How long did you have your xenia before they started to spread? I've had pulsing xenia in my tank about 6 weeks and they have not changed at all. They look exactly the same, at least they haven't died. I also read that if they were placed on a low spot they would climb to the top of the rock. Mine haven't moved a bit. I don't want them to over run the tank but some growth would be nice.

What type of lights do you use on what size tank?
It really can depend on what type of system you've got going. I've had xenia that grow moderately fast in my tank.. gave some to my brother and they literally took his tank over in a few months.
Do you have many fish in that tank?

I am embarassed to tell you what lights I have, I am completely ignorant about them. I have the standard aquarium light strips with blue light bulbs and then some shop lights from the garage behind them----I can hear the moans from all around saltwaterfish.com.
This tank is a work in progress, I am hoping to upgrade someday. It was intended to be a FOWLR. Since the hubbie set up a small reef tank, I now have coral envy. I have been trying some low light corals such as suncorals, mushrooms, etc. I also have green and pink frogspawn near the top that is doing great, growing alot.
Anyway, I've heard some xenia can do well in low lights so a friend gave me a very small frag to try. It is a 120g, 6' long. I do have alot of fish.

Hi Everyone!
I think Ill chime in here again.
I have 300 W of Mh lighting on my tank at the moment which might contribute to my Xenia outbreak. Also they love Nitrates and mine were up to 40 PPm the last time I tested so that may be a factor as well.
As for spreading mine started as soon as they touched another rock. At times it was attached to 3 rocks at a time. I actullay cut a branch that was attached to multiple rocks and now its trying to spread as well. I can see how it could become a pest. From one branch I now have 5, all with new "nubs". They are scattered all over my tank now. Pulsing to a different beat.

Doing well and thriving is too different things :) Light sounds like your issue.

I think xenia it pretty hardy. It seems to be getting a bit carried away.
With the stock lighting it has doubled in size.
