???Weird pink tube stuff in tank???

My buddy has a 55 gal tank with a valentini puffer, porcupine puffer, snowflake eel, wolf eel, and a pixie hawk fish. He said therer was this weird looking pink tube stuff that showed up in his tank. I went over and checked it out and I have no clue. So I am looking for some help from you all cause I have no idea.

How is that over stocket. They are 2-3" fish and a 6" wolf eel and the snowflake the size of a pencil. Just wondering
