Weird sponges

I have these 2 sponges that are growing like crazy in my tank that i didnt see uintil about a month ago. One is as white as white comes and grows all brinchy like antlers. I accidently knocked pieces off when moving rockwork a few weeks ago and those became new ones growing just as fast. The other is a tan color that grows over rock and makes a "pad" around them. Bth are found on the undersides of rocks in the shade.
The question is does this have anythign to do with water quality? Do they grow when certain chemicals are high ligh algae does? I doubt that they could be harmful, but is there any chance of that? I know that sponges arent not supposed to come into contact with the air ever, but is this avoidable when i mvoe my rocks to my bigger tank? they are on rocks that weigh 5-10 pounds so staying in water by bagging them isnt an option. Could i just put a new wet rag over them while they move 20 feet?
