At first I thought it was some kind of nudibranch. But they're not moving, whatever they are. I got a single little red mushroom frag for display on another project (A magnetic frag rock):
And when I was done with the photoshoot, I moved the shroom down to the bottom of the tank. When I got up in the morning, I saw this:
And I took the shroom out. There's nothing in this tank except a green clown goby and a few blue leg hermits. Tank has some zoanthids, palys, GSP, a ric and some montis in it as well; everything else looks A-OK. Could this be the result of a few bites...? Here are some clearer shots out of the tank:
I tried to (CAREFULLY) remove the white strands, but they don't come loose. If these ARE the extruded innards of the shroom because of bites, I certainly don't want to disembowel him! Any ideas what I'm looking at here??
