Well I went to the fish store today!

They didn't have my lion fish yet or my 125gallon tank. But they did have some cool base rock that I bought, and some snails and hermits. The base rock I think is dead coral. Its pretty cool looking. Here are a few pics I snapped after adding some stuff.

Is that all that the base rock really is, is just dead coral? Thats been bothering me for awhile. been trying to search for the answer.

Yes, but eventually with time and treatment I believe you can get growth back on it.

Yup dead rock or coral can be seeded from LR!! My lfs always told me to start the base witht the dead cheaper stuff and then pile the live on top! It will all eventually beome alive! Believe it or not I started my salt tank not knowing anything and put a bunch of BS in there including a castle which I just took out after 2 1/2 years cause it had a ton of aiptasia on it. I liked it cause the fish hid in it and I felt like I would ruin their home but it looks much better without it! my point is this castle became LIVE with aiptasia and feather dusters and all sorts of stuff! LOL
