Wet Dry filter question for a reef?

I have read a few posts on Wet Dry systems. I reciently read that you do not need bio balls in your wet dry sump system if you have LR? I understand that the LR is filtering the water. I have about 75lbs of LR in my 75g tank. I am getting more. What is your recomendation for a filter system for my tank. I do want a sump to hide all of my equipment. Do I just get the sump I have been looking at that will support a 150g tank and leave the bio balls out of it? What goes in it's place? Does this make the sump loud in operation. Seems like the water would splash in the sump when it comes through the drip plate.
Can someone clear this up for me please.

bio balls basicly are a place for your bactirea to grow. your rock will hold the bactirea so no need for bioballs plus there are arguments regarding bioballs and nitrate factorys as far as wet/dry as a sump thats what I have and it works great and it is not loud the drip plate actually works like a baffle
