I am a newbie at aquarium keeping and I have 2 Penguin Bio Wheel 170s running in my 29 gal tank. I have noticed people on the board use powerheads and undergravel filters....can someone explain the difference between the two?
wet/dry filters, undergravel, powerheads....what's the difference?

Wet/dry filters and under gravel filters are best used with fresh water aquariums. For SW the best filtration is LR and LS. I run no filter at all in my 105 gallon system. Have a sump with a protien skimmer and am thinking of getting rid of the skimmer. Also have a 10 gallon refugium to grow caulerpa for my tangs. My trates are so low the stuff is hardly growing at all. The power heads are for water movement and aeration and are really necessary. HTH
