Hello everyone, I currently have a Wet/Dry with Bio-Balls and I am building a Refugium this Tuesday. Here's the question, can I remove the w/d and replace it new Refugium with no adverse affects to the water quality? I have heard that due so it could raise Amonia and Nitrite since the balls have biological bateria in them.
I have a 30G with a 10G W/D Sump
Nitrite 0
Amonia 0
Nitrate 15

What I read is remove the bioballs one hand full at a time. I am curing live rubble now for this same purpose. But I have been using a HOB fuge on the sump for months now.
