Wet/dry too loud!

does any1 run a wet/dry that is not loud..mine has a return pump with a mag 12 and it very loud and annoying although it does its job perfectly..i have on one of my other tanks a canister filter that also works great and the water is crystal clear but that is a fowlr and not a rt..the cansiter is extremely quiet and works well..but i'm affraid i will require the wet/dry for the 120 Rt since i have 50 or so corals and a huge CC and its a reef...is there a way to make ur wet.dry filter lower or run quietly ? although it would seem to me that the wet/dry works more efficiently it's so loud and the canister filer is nearly silent..

I was watching this thread...mine too is loud. Not to steal your thread SH2000, but I do have an overflow...lordlocks what suggestion did you have in mind for wet/dry with overflow?

What type do you have? is it a u tube design or constant syphon?

Is the return pump loud or is the water rushin into the sump loud ? If its the water rushing into the wet/dry filter thats loud you can add a ball valve to turn down the flow into the filter . Basicaly the same amount of water will be flowing you can just adjust the amount of air that travels with it .

Filter socks will do the trick, if its water.
It could be your return pump too as those mag pumps can be pretty loud. If it is the pump try elevating it by cutting the return tube shorter. If that dont work check out the marine version of home depot, they sell a rubber pad for external pumps which you could use under the mag.

Thnaks guys its prob a combo of both the mag 12 is a bit noisy.. and its mostly the water going into the sump sounds liek a water fall lol thanks
