I learned a costly mistake two days ago. I live in CT. and had just opned up my pool for the summer, that went great. The next day I did My weekly water change on my 75gal reef tank. What I didn't know was about an hour before, I had my hands in the pool water. The extra strong Shock chemicals from the pool water had dried on my skin.
You guess it, the next morning after the water change I had lost all 10 corals, and two fish.
Iv'e done numerious water changes and I think I save the tank. Just I warning hope it helps someone else before they do it!

Ouch...so sorry to hear that. You must always be aware of contaminating your tank with chemicals, cleaners, hand lotions, etc. I am so careful I refuse to wear nail polish for this reason..
