I place things like that in the freezer.
Now, you realize I can't ID that guy with certainty..... in this case I can only say what I think it is and what I would do with it.
I do think you are right my Star Polyps have not been out seen putting him in. Also I noticed some of the ne blue polyps I got have not been coming out. So I took your advice and removed him but did not put into freezer, instead I put it into my other tank which only houses a clarki and an anemone, engineer goby and 60 lbs of live rock. Any ways this morning everything has come open so I think he was the problem. Oh ya why the freezer?????
The freezer is suppose to be "friendlier" than say, flushing. This is how Ron Shimek recommends and I go by what he says in this regard. Him = pH.D in critters... Me = nobody. I love hitchhikers... good and bad, but if I can't feed them or don't know of anyone that can, I dipose of them. Better a quick death than a starving one, IMO.
Something that pretty, I'd give a chance before a summary execution. If it's a coral eater, you'll see it before any serious damage is done.I was going to kill the dozen, or so, bristle worms until I found out they are harmless, beneficial even.
I didn't tell her to kill it. I said remove it from the tank.... which I definately recommend if hoping for an ID. Then I proceeded to shared what I would do.... and feeling fairly confident in my hitchhiker ID "skillz", I would personally put it in the freezer.
The only thing wrong with putting it in another established tank is not she may not be able to put corals in there if it manages to stay alive living off incidental polyps. Or, if there's no food in there it will slowly starve to death.
I don't take the lives of hitchhikers lightly.
I am not going to kill it or freeze it I am putting it into my other tank like I said before I noticed it desturbing my polyps and noticed they were not coming out any more.
