What are chavs and townies??

I still am not real sure what it is, but from what I gather it's a type of people. That's good enough. I had no idea.

Chav is a british slang term for white trash, don't know about townie... prolly within the same definition i would assume...

So, chances are then I have never even met one right?? British white trash. That's funny. We have a name for that and I don't even think we have ne for american white trash, LOL!!!

i know that where my college is, we refer to just about all of the teens that live in town 'townies'. yes it's derogatory. we also use it for anyone who lives in town who likes to show up to frat parties (altho i don't go to those myself, this is from others lol) who don't go to our school, who walk thru town in groups or hang out on the sidewalk trying to look cool. or pretty much anyone else we run into in town that we don't like. lol.
never heard of a 'chaz' tho.

Blue pretty much hit it on the head with "townies." the whole fad of using the word "townies," at least where I came from, started with Bret Easton Ellis' book "Rules of Attraction."
In it his main charachters use the term when referring, demeaningly, to the local students.

I know kids have some strange stuff they say...my daughters have made up their own lang. so they can talk in front of us. I can't make out a word they say...it is now banded from our house-I don't like that sort of thing. I told them if you have something to say..say it-don't hide it. It's disrespectful-if it were back when I was growing up-it would have been a hot rod track moment for sure!
