what are polyps?

polyps are individual animals that live in a group or as individuals a group of polyps become a coral as it grows.
Everything that has flower looking attachments is a polyp. as far as hard to care for some are easy as throwing them in the tank others need high flow and lighting and still others need to be feed and in a dark place.
Is their a particualr polyp that you are looking at or wandering about?

i was just wondering because there are little plants that look like little plam trees that recently started growing in my tank. i think they are polyps but i wasnt sure.
there green in color with a little bit of brown and look like palm trees they close up when i turn the light off.
