What are the chances?

I've decided to order 2 false percula clownfish from saltwaterfish.com. I have a question though. I want them to mate but I don't want to pay the 100 bucks for a mated pair
(go ahead call me cheap
). If I were to buy two seperate fale percs what are the chances they will become a mated pair?

i think it is a good chance...if they are young enough and are together for awhile then when they mature it is a good chance they will mate....but there is always the other possiblity that they wont too

Honestly Its About 50/50. I Bought 2 Black And White Saddlebacks And They Ended Up Getting Along Fine. They Werent Mated When I Got Them But They Were In The Same Tank. I Thhink Your Chances Are Better If They Are In Same Tank As Opposed To Different Tanks

I bought 2 very small false percs a little over 2 years ago and they have been in the same tank together ever since.They have grown a good bit but never mated.Not sure how long it takes them to mature.Mine have got along just fine since day one.Don't know if this helps or not,just my experience.

Clownfish are all male at birth and can change --- only one time to female and never revert back to male. As juveniles, you have a better change of them deciding who is going to change and who isnt. At this point the larger, more aggressive switches sexes and a female is made. They at this point are a pair. However, just being a pair will not guarantee offspring. They have to feel comfortable in their environment and well fed along with somewhere safe that the feel they can spawn without having their offspring attacked.

I bought two yellow stripe maroons from SWF. When I ordered, I asked them to send one bigger and one smaller. They did a perfect job, sent me one that was about 2.5" and one 1.5" The bigger one (the female) picked on the little one for a few days but now they get along great, always next to each other in their BTA.
