I have a calc buffer and I use reef solution. I was wondering what you guys thought are the most "necessary" for good coral health and reproduction

I add nothing unless i have to, i will do my tests and if something is needed then i will add what i have to but if eveything reads good then i dont add a thing to it.

I use Oceanic salt (high in calcium/magnesium/trace elements), Kent's Super dkH buffer (salt has low alk), and Marc Weiss' Coral Vital.

I am really planning on adding some serious coral stock to my tank, and as of right now my zoos are doing great with regular water changes, calc buffer, and reef solution. I just didn't know if anyone else really like a product because there are so many out there. I am just going to do softies, but didn't know if there is a well kept secret. I also like to use cyclopeeze. I used to use the phytoplankton, but I have been hearing that a lot of people have been moving away from that and using oyster eggs, any thoughts

For food, I do you cyclopeeze, dts phyto and dts oyster eggs. Right now, I like to use a product by Sweetwater called Zooplankton. Seems like everyone gets plenty to eat with this stuff. The only "secret" that works for the majority of us is keep the water parameters good (including keeping your temp stable, ca and alk and ph in the right range,...) , don't overfeed, make sure all equipment is working properly, ...
I don't think their is a secret additive on the market. Don't get caught up in the claims a lot of products are making (I did on a few).

strontium and mylobedium every 4 days and some iodine for the inverts once a week....other than that water changes supplement everything else!
Cyclopeeze or phytoplankton for food....

There are many variables. Everyone's tank is different...for example.. a tank with lots of leathers is going to uptake alot of calcium. My tanks are mixed, and my 75 has a alot of stony corals so it uses up magnesium and alot of calcium. I dose all three tanks daily with an A & B additive.{Calcium and alkalinity} this will also help to maintain PH. There are alot of other essential elements in this as well. I dose magnesium every three days on my 75. You must test to see where your tank is periodically..and this can change as the needs of the corals change, and as they grow. It also depends on what type of salt you use, they are all different to some degree. I use Tropic Marin Pro exclusively.
