What are these funky bubbles? Eggs of some kind?

I've never seen it before in my tank. Maybe I just never noticed. I just took out a filter bag to rinse it out, and discovered all these weird little "bubbles" clinging to it. Only they aren't bubbles. They are perfectly round, clear spheres that are very brittle and break when you touch them. They're about half the size of a small pea.
I shook them into a small 5 gallon hex I'm using as a Q tank.
What are they?

can you post a pic.? Are they clear green? If they are round green balls they are probably bubble algae but if not......?

Yeah sounds like it could be bubble algae. Dont pop them in your tank or they have the potential to release spores in the water. Unfortunately, I mistakenly did that in my friend's tank. Fortunately though, nothing bad happened.

I do have a pic, it's not a very good one though.
They're not green. They are about a 1/4 " in diameter, and are totally clear.
Here's the pic, if you can tell anything from it. I enhanced the heck out of it, though. Keep in mind, it's clear.
It just doesn't look like any bubble algae I've seen.
