What are these little white bugs in my filter?

I went to change my filter media in my Skilter and there were maybe a 100 of these little white bugs in there. They had two little feeler looking things protruding from the head. My system has been up and running for about 5 months now and I've never seen these things before. They are anywhere from an 1/8th to almost a 1/4 inch long.

My bet is that they're copepods. These are a harmless bug that acutally is quite benifical to have in the tank. They provide a source of food for you fish and also keep you sand and rock clean. bottom line they are a good thing.

Try to get a flashlight several hours after all lights are off. Then you will probably see a lot of them all over the glass surfaces.
