What brand of protein skimmer do you recommend?

I'm thinking of investing in a protein skimmer for my 75. My eel is getting bigger, and he is getting to be a pretty messy eater. I'm afraid this might start to affect my nitrate level. What would you guys recommend? I want something I can put in my stand (no hang ons), and something that is fairly quiet. Thanks

Get a Super Reef Devil. I am very happy with my Reef Devil III. Go to:

Check them out.

I recomend the "Berlin" always have. I was using one on my 125 till I switched to a DSB RDP Refugium. Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, and Phosphate stayed at 0. Hope this helps :)

I was going to get a berlin but saw that they could be finicky. So I sucked it up and bought a Euro-Reef skimmer. Efficient, quiet, and power efficient.
BTW: I have a 75 gallon tank and the skimmer I am running is a CS6-3. I would not go any smaller on a reef tank.

I went to the site you sisted. $399 for complete system. Although, some of the items shown are optional. How do you have a complete system when you have to by the options separate.

I am extremely pleased with my Berlin classic. It works very well. I would buy another if I needed one.

You must have gotten a dud on the turboflotor, was it supplied with an Aquabee?

Seaclones aren't bad. I use one on my 55. I don't think I wpuld use it on anything bigger. Seaclones can be very finicky at first!

nj27000...I have a Seaclone on a similar size tank and it seems to an okay job. I think mainly they tend to be a little tricky as far as getting the air/water ratio dialed in. Every time I shut mine off to do maintenance I have to spend a while getting it right again.

I would agree with this board, buy a better skimmer but for $70 you can't go wrong with a seaclone. I use one on my 65G and a happy i empty the cup every week.

If you don't want a hang-on skimmer(Remora Pro), Aqua C also makes the Urchin Pro. I use the urchin in my sump and it is great. According to the Aqua C web sight you can now get a Mag Drive pump instead of the rio. Quiet, low maintenance and less expensive than alot of skimmers.
