hi
ok, so in this coralife fixture that i have, there are 4 65watt comp. flur. bulbs. Two of them have 10,000 on them. the fixture is 48 inches, i think.
I want new bulbs but all of the lingo just confuses me. We plan to have some soft corals...we actually have one anemone that is doing well sitting ontop of one of the rocks.
Want to replace the bulbs but dont know what to get that is the brightest able to make the tank look blue-ish or purple-ish. know what i mean?
Can't do anything more expensive than compact. Dont have the money for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

what size tank do you have? you can pick up current usa T5HO fixtures that will be perfect for what you want for a fairly decent price if you shop around. rotary isright, keeping anemone's under PC's is just bad joojoo

if you want a good fixture low cost
look up hello Lights
They have a fixture that is identical to the TEK fixture
the 24" 4bulb is $100 with bulbs
the 48" 4bulb with buls is $129
the 48" 8bulb is $179
they are discontinued so they are selling cheap..I bought the 24" and should be here on tues. I would say they are a good bit better then those Nova fixtures and alot less
or, follow this, just google hello lights, and look this up, its a pretty good deal it looks like to me

nem's require lots of light, pc's just dont put out enough light to fully care for the anemone's requirements, thats why everyone tells you to use a minimum of T5HO lighting, if not MH lights

is the fixture just being discontinued? can i still get bulbs for it?
yes, you will still be able to get bulbs, all fixtures, no matter who makes em, use the same bulbs basically, its just a matter of shopping around

MH watts&T5HO watts are superior to watts from a compact fluorescent, the former put out much greater levels of par at a greater distance than PCs.

Yes but when you replace them..you wanna get some ATI or Geismann bulbs..they are much much better
Like some BluePlus, Aquasun, 12k..much better par and much better color..but the stock ones would be fine for now and much more intense and better par light
