I just cycled a new tank and have never done any aggressive fish before. What can I put with a porcupine puffer in a 125?

Tangs, Triggers (maybe avoid Clown or Undy), Big Angels, big Wrasses, and Eels work great...I had a Porky for 5 years, he was an aggressive eater, but got along great with everyone other than that...though he did eat my Queen Angel when I went on vacation and my neighbor forgot to feed them for 3 days!!! Expensive dinner for him.

porcupine puffers are awsome looking good luck with the 125. I think good tankmates would be tangs triggers and maybe a snowflake eel.

Honestly, I don't think porcupine puffers are that aggressive if you start them out young with the other more peaceful tank mates. It just depends on what you had in mind. Let's flip this over to you, what were you looking to keep with the puffer?

I would like to have a bicolor pseudochromis and I'm kind of undecided on the rest. I like purple tangs but I don't know if a 125 is big enough for them. I don't like triggers and I'm afraid of eels
I've really debated on getting a puffer bc I think it's the only aggressive fish I like.

I have had my porcupine puffer for about a year and a half, and so far he is doing awesome! I have him with a Koran Angel, Pinstripe Wrasse, Maroon Clown, Yellow Tang, and a snowflake eel. I wanted to experiment with my fish so I put a couple of corals in. Like softies, GSP, and acros. None of the fish have touched anything so far. Porcupine puffers are like dogs. Mine will follow me everywhere I go next to the tank. When feeding he is right there to greet me. They do eat inverts but don't eat corals. Hope I helped and sorry I got a little off topic. Mine eats scallop, squid, shrimp, krill, ect,. Good LUCK!

A good skimmer! They're great fish, tons of personality; and the sloppiest eaters anywhere.

Okay...looks like I'll be investing in another skimmer.

Monster eaters, also famous for puffer bombs.
They let loose like hippos.
I personally do think a 125 is small for a porky since they do get large, but you would be hard pressed to find a more interactive and intellegent fish to put in your tank.
They will suprise you with the display of emotion and recognition to different members of your family and dogs ect. They can come to the water surface and spit water, or make chirp noises. Blow rasberries and also click thier beak at you when you walk in the room.

I have mine in with a foxface and a blue tang and have had no problems. Mine is like a small puppy constantly wanting attention whenever some one from my family comes by the tank that he recognizes.

I agree with lion-craze; I love this fish and don't think they are real aggressive. I have had one in one tank or another for many years and never had a problem with aggression. Small fish and most inverts are, of course, out of the question. They can, and will, defend themselves; but they are quite slow and most other fish give them the space they need. They spend so much time looking for their owner (food!) that they don't have time to look for trouble.I honestly don't know of any other fish that has this much "personality".

Thanks! What would you guys think about a purple tang, bicolor pseudo, and some kind of clown? I'd have to reasearch and find out which kind of clown is the most aggressive.
