What color does southdown turn when wet?

I just bought some beach sand from a lanscaping company and i got it wet and it turned an ugly grey color. What color does the tropical play sand turn when wet?

From my experience it stays the same color more of a brownish, kinda like play sand in a kids sand box.

i thought that the tropical play sand is a bright white color, is this correct or is it more of a brown/grey color?

the southdown sand in my tank is a light grey, almost white.

Mine is more white then gray.

I have 80lbs of southdown in my 35 and it is white with a tint of grey.
