what do I need for a new 110 gal tank?

Alright guys here it is, I think I am going with a 110 gal tank that I eventually want to be a reef tank. The last tank I had for 3 years before I moved was a 55 gal. and I bought it used with all the equipment, so what I was wondering was what is the essential pieces of equipment that I need to run a tank this size. Feel free to be specific, I want to start making a christmas wish list and I don't want to miss out on anything I may need!
Thanks Sean

Alot of Live Sand, alot of Live Rock, a good protein skimmer, and good lights...depending on what corals you want to keep. And an RO unit for your water. That's it...nothing else IMO.

You need a good source of conterfit money. ;)
Getting my 125 gallon up and running has taken both more time and money than I would have ever immagined. I'm not complaining but wow!

Looking to jump to the same size myself. Anyone who has a 110 running and has a suggestion for make and model of skimmer, as well as rock and sand statistics? Thinking dual 400w halides? the tank is the cheap part at this stage in the game, just wondering how i need to budget. a hypothetical shopping list will help with the math end.

400 MH's on a 110?? Seems like overkill. You can use 175's up to 24" deep and 250's after that. I don't think any 110 would be to deep for 250's.

have one over my 30, its in pendant form, so i am able to hang it a good 18 inches away, bright, but the fish dont seem affected. why? including 20k bulb and shipping it was about 85 bucks.

DIY created using surplus new highbay fixtures.... available from surplus dealers, or popular auction sites. Search halide 400
