I want to get a host for my two Choc. Ocellaris but I am not sure what kind of anenome to get, also I don't know how much light they need or what they eat and how to feed them. Can anyone help me out?
What kind of lights do you currently have? How long has the tank been setup? Do you have a chocolate chip seastar?
Anemones can eat whatever you feed to your fish such as mysis or pellets. They should be fed 2-3 times a week by simply placing the food on their tentacles. They will grab it and move it to their mouth.
I only have flourescent and I know that isn't enough. If I decide to get an anenome I will definately get some pc lights, though I don't know how many watts I need. I have a 55gal tank. Also I do not have a choc chip star, why do you ask?
Just needed to know because if you had a CC star, then got an anemone, the CC star would eat the anemone.
If you have the money, go for MH lighting. That is way better than PC. A 250 or 2x250 watt MH, either with or without PC or VHO actinic supplementing would do well. How long has your tank been setup?
As usuall I would suggest a BTA or RBTA, a minimum of 380 watts of VHO, 440 would be better, those are 4 light bulb systems. They can be purchased online for about $260 to $300.

Unfortunately, I can't say that I would recommend that. I have a RTBA which is fading fast. I have 440 VHO.

Strange Beth, I'd like to know why mine do so well with less lighting.
Could it be the difference between tank raised and wild?
I know every tank is different and even a little difference can be a big thing in our little boxes.
If yours doesn't make it - you-all want me to send you one of my Yankee BTA's
