Welcome to the hobby...!
I will be the first of many probably to tell you this... slow down and do your research before jumping in... I know it's exciting but you seriously need to do everything very slowly in this hobby or your tanks will suffer.
That said...
There are lots of combinations of shtuff you can use. What I do on my 58 is:
55# LR
3" Aragonite seeded with about 10# of LS
CPR Bak Pak skimmer/filter
Whisper filter (with filter pack removed - I use it for surface agitation)
3 powerheads
Occupants are 2 percula clowns, 1 flameback angel, 2 emerald crabs and a bunch of miscellaneous hermits and snails.
I am planning on adding a DIY sump and probably another 25# of LR. Still trying to decide between a Flame Hawk and shrimp.
Probably more than you needed to know about my tank but hope it helps!

welcome
I agree totally with katie when she says go slow and do your research. I feel another important thing, and to me the most important is to be patient when you do get started.
As far as the basics there are countless options out there. I have two tanks. one 46 and one 125. the fourty six is very basic. Has one 50/50 no light. a canister filter with bio-wheels and activated carbon. about 2 1/2 inches of crused coral at the bottom and an in-tank, air-stone driven protein skimmer. I also has about 5 pieces of dead coral from your typical pet store as decorations. This simple set up has been doing just fine for a couple of years now. I only keep 5 medium sized fish in it, but i made sure it was fully matured before adding that kind of load to it. this is probably the least expensive set up to use. but it is probably as simple as i would dare to go also.
Hope this gives you some ideas and good luck to you.
