What do they mean by medium/low lighting

I am interested in eventually getting into Corals and was doing some browsing/research on SWF. I was under the understanding that corals generally need MH but I keep seeing in the descrpition of some of the corals that low or medium light will suffice. So, my question is what exactly do they mean by medium and low light? Would any of the corals work under PC's?

medium/low light = power compacts. Depending on watts per gallon, that mainly covers softies and lps.

IMO, 3/gal = medium lighting.

PC's should be able to support any softies and most LPS. I believe it's more about placement to determine medium and low.

low lighting normally means bottom half of tank or under a shaded area. it depends on the light u hv. most corals will prefer decent lights tho. only sun corals dont need light. mushrooms tend to need low light and ok current, like moving water.
