What do you have in your nano

My little brother just got a 12 gallon nano cube I was helping him set it up today and he asked how many fish he could put in. He is thinking about 2 clowns and a red scooter. It will be a reef when we get it running. What do you have in your nano's include fish and inverts, just so we can get ideas of what to get. Thanks so much

That's probably overstocked a little bit for a 12...But I would say that he could do two clowns and soem kind of bottom dwelling fish like a small goby..But the scooters are picky eaters and need highly developed tanks that have been established for a long time...But I have a 20 gl reef right now and I currently have 5 fish, a red scooter (lol), three percsulas and a purple firefish, and I also consider myself overstocked.

Cool thanks so much. I have a 46 gallon tank but I wasnt sure if it was different with nano's cuz their small size. I have 5 fish also but i am not done stocking. I have 1 clown fish (the other i found sucked to the powerhead when I got home from school) 2 damsels a pinkspotted gobie and a copperband. I think nanos are cool so I will have fun helping my little bro with it. Thanks again.

I checked the temp of his tank and it is 86 degrees. is it because of the lid. How do we fix it.

u can do the expensive method and get a chiller, or do like i do and get a fan and blow it on it for a few hours....

I had the same problem with my 24 gal AquaPod. It was getting up near 86-87 degrees. I ended up buying a $260 window AC unit for the room, and its now perfect (78-80 degrees.) Before I bought the new ac I got a small fan and put it behind the tank, and it only dropped the temp a degree or two. A quick way to drop the temp when its that high is just open the lid and point the fan right at the water. I did that when I came home and found the temp almost to 88 degrees, and it quicky dropped it to 83 (turn the lights off!) But from my experience the fan alone didnt work for me. Hopefully it'll work in your case!

Take the fans out and flip them over so they blow in instead of out, and swap the pump out for a maxi-jet 900. The stock pumps run hot and don't give the tank much flow. He should also consider adding the surface skimmer mod.A copperband butterfly will outgrow your 46...they get the size of a dinnerplate. I keep three fish in my 12 NC, but they are under an inch.

You could dod the 2 clowns. If you do that Id suggest the black clowns they dont seem to grow as fast or get as big. They should bo better in the 12 gallon cube.
