Hi,
Just got a porcupine puffer yesterday and don't know what they eat! I know they need something hard for their teeth but unsure where to buy. Will they eat frozen shrimp pieces? Will they eat out of my hand? Thanks!!

The diodon puffers (porcupines are diodons) do not run into problems as far as overgrown teeth, like the tetradons do. They will eat most anything meaty, and perhaps it may become tame enough to eat out of your hand, but watch your fingers. You really should research before you buy a fish. Food is essential and should be the very least you know about a fish before buying. Many have demands that cannot be so easily met. Do you have any idea how big this fish gets?

Looks like you made a common mistake, Always research before you buy. It depends on what you need to feed it. Is it already hooked on frozen food. If so they you can feed it frozen shrimp peices, etc. If it won't eat frozen food then you should try to get him/her eating frozen food. As for a hard for for their teeth I do not know.

What size tank do you have as well. These things can get large and aggressive. Smaller fish may become dinner. so this may limit what else you have have. I would love one or two, but that would limit my choices.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD FILTRATION. They eatalot and they poopalot.

Is he in the 90 that you list in your profile? Porky's get HUGE! They should be fed a meaty diet like shrimp, krill, clams.. Anything with a shell is pretty good for them.
