I have a larger lion in my reef hes about 7-8 inches now
anything that moves slowly in the open and can fit in its mouth is prey.
my lion accually took a small maroon clown out of its anenome sucked him right out,yes he got stung by the anenome but he still swallowed that fish grr i was ticked ..but hey i new it was a possabilty.flame hawks or hawk fish are good for that type of agressive reef they are very fast hide well and are highly intelligent fish from all of my readings I done on that species.but they will eat inverts and snails(kinda humorous to watch that one lol)dottybacks fast but hide well blennies also hide well and dont swim in the open .I did find my lion does not bother with my cardenal fish at all I think its high dorsal fin makes him appear to large for the lion to think he can swallow it.he will bypass that fish any chance and scope out my chromis.but if I make sure to feed him every day he tends not to care whos around him.other open swimmers are butterflies like pearlscale they are reef safe also and tall backed so the lion doesnt bother it.hope this helps
