What Fish store do i go with ?

I have to been getting my freshwater then mixed it up at my house so I have been lugging these 5 and 6 gallon gas cans every time I have been using the same store for about 3 years and there have been rumors that they dont change there filters enought? heard it through another person in the store lol
should I change the store that i have been getting my water for 3 years?
there is a new store that opened up in the same area so hear is the question
1. Is there any way to test both fish store's fresh water?
2. how much would it cost me so install a water filter system in my home give or take?
3. should I pin the stores against each ?

You can get a tds meter to check any water source!
IMO, it is cheaper and easier to have your own system at home. As far as cost, you can spend a bundle or you can check your local reef club or CL for used units. Also, they sell reasonably priced, good units on that auction site.
