what good is starting a thread if no one answers

I tried readin the other thread, but it gave me a headache. Using a cap at the beginning of every word makes for a very difficult read.

i answer if I know the answer, and if I can read the post. I won't read toggle or all caps or goofy colors or fonts....

This reply to me makes no sense and helps him NONE! If you don't agree, bite the tongue and go on to the next thread.
I did read the first thread and it was answered an hour after it got posted and then like 10 minutes later.
Yes research is better done than asking on here but some people don't know how to do a search.
To do a search; go to the "search bar" up top of the forum pages and type in the subject you want to know about. Alot of questions get asked daily that are repeatative (sp) and some short tempered aquarists get all upset when the same questions get asked CONSTANTLY.
Just my observations and not trying to start a flame war etc. FLORIDABOB; hope that helps ya out.

fyi, search doesn't always help if someone doesn't know what they are searching for, or they get too many responds. narrow it down and get too few or none.
And not everyone titles their threads in a way that helps one search, so going through a couple of pages doesn't always work....
(at least for me at this time...while I'm attempting to search before asking...)

I agree. I have searched for some very basic things before and nothing helpful comes up.

He started a thread in a public forum and an houir later when it wasnt yet answered he got ticked and posted another. We need to remember that this is a PUBLIC forum, answers are provided by private citizens at will and availability. So sometimes it takes a while to get an answer. UI dont think any of us are PAYING for this forum!

Yep. Someone posted a thread a few days ago complaining because his thread was on "top" but someone's thread "under" his was answered first, then he started complaining about the horrible "customer service" on here!

I am not really sure what you are talking about Bob. An hour and a half is a very fast response to a question.
Also, as stated, the better you type your question and the easier you make it to read, the more people you will actually get to read the question. When I see a post that lacks punctuation, is all capatalized, and does not have verbs and/or subjects in most of its sentences, I just bypass it. I retyped your post, to show you what I am talking about.
Retype:

Ok, I have a 75 gallon SW FO Tank running 6 months and the fish seem to be verry happy!!! I was told by many on this site and other sites and my LFS said that my Emperor 400 is a nitrate trap. With that said, I decided to go to a wet dry system with bio balls. Is that good or should I go with a canister? I also have 100 lbs. of live sand, protien skimmer, 2 power heads, and I just ordered another 100 lbs. of live figi live rock.

It doesn't matter how long you have been in this hobby. Posts on this message board are welcomed from everyone. We are a family here, and we do not criticize anyone for their lack of experience. You are on the right track by being here and asking questions.
If you use a program like Microsoft Word to type your posts in, your grammar and spelling will be a lot better and your posts will be a lot easier to read.

It really does feel like a family on this forum.
We argue, bicker, laugh and sometimes even learn from each other.

I watched this forum for about a week before I joined. I never really bothered with forums before because they always seemed petty.
But somehow this one is different, its fun and a lot of folks here are very knowledgeable.
I enjoy sharing what I know and enjoy learning new things from others.
I'm glad I joined, it makes the hobby more fun.

I would just like to show some love to Swfish.com, its admin and all of the members that have shared their knowledge in saltwaterfish with me over the past year and made me a better reefkeeper. Thanks guys! Btw, welcome to the tank.
