welcome to SWF. Next question you post, you probably should place it in the Reef, New Hobbiest, etc forums. The Aquarium is for off topic. You will get better responses for your fish in those.
Now, your tank.....did it complete its cycle? Usually about 4-6 weeks?
too many fish in that size tank
and the snowy stuff sounds like ich.

I hope this gets moved to the other forum, but I will try to explain... The smelly rock was uncured rock. All LR will go through a die off process during shipment. If it goes to the LFS, SOMETIMES they will cure it before it gets to you and sometimes they just say they do. Even if your tank has cycled, it is obvious that your rock has not. Your tank will go through another cycle, and it will most likely kill the current inhabitants... Curing LR in your display tank will cause an ammonia spike that is well beyond the tolerance of most fish.
The rule of thumb is 1.5 to 2 pounds of LR for every gallon of water. Do not add chemicals to your display tank, it would be better to set up a hospital tank. It would be better still if the LFS will hold them for you until your LR cures. I am jumping around 'cause I keep scrolling down to reread what you wrote...
But future questions should be in the New Hobbiest forum...HTH:)
