I am looking for ideas why my Devils Hand soft coral is dead , or near dead. Here's the story, 3 days ago it was doing great. Yesterday about 1/4 of it looked like it was rotting and all closed up. Today it is all faded out, wilted over, and looks like it is rotting. The water parameters are 0 amm, 0 trites, 10 trates, cal450, alk 3.2, ph 8.2, temp 80, sal 1.024. All these readings have been stable for quite some time. Only thing different in the tank is the addition of 3 turbo snails and a sally lightfoot, about a week ago. The sally disappeared after 1 day and I found peices of its shell next to the carpet and then the next day I found what I am assuming was the carcass of it without the shell. I removed it immediately.Stinky. I tested the water at that time and still tested good. I did a 20 gal. water change at this time also.It is a 150 gal tank. I can only assume that the sally stepped into the carpet, that is why the shell peices were next to the carpet. Can the carpet or sally release some toxin? Also, my flowerpot is only extending1/2 of normal since the softy went belly up. Any ideas. Should I remove the devils hand or give it a few days. All other inhabitants are doing good.
