What is aussie acan?

Thinking about getting coupla more corals. Saw aussie acan advertised, but don't know anything about it. Has anyone had experience with it- what kind of lighting, easy or hard to take care of? I don't have metal halide lighting just PC. Thanks for any help!

very hardy, easy to care for, PC lighting is enough for them..but more would be better. Aussie acans are EXPENSIVE though.

Thats a nice collection you got there 05 but i SHUDDER to think what that musta set you back!!!
It's a little sad to see acans now starting to be "named" and chopped up by the head. Some of the full colonies were INSANE before they were cut up. I would have thought people learned their lesson paying $25-50 a head for zoos a few years ago but those acans are SICK!

for whatever reason the aussie's are like 2 times more than acans from anywhere else. Not just acans either. must be expensive or restrictive to import from aussie (is there any other reef there besides the great barrier. I dont know if collection is allowed there).

seems its most of the Aussie acans have insane color morphs wich I think gives alot for their crazy price.

05, I totally understand. When I first started seeing the Aussie acans I was hooked, here is my latest purchase, total of 50+ heads on the rock.

yeesh..I am sure that cost an arm and a leg...i just dont get the prices for these acans and micros either..they grow SOOOO fast.
My blueberry micro rock i sold off all but like 2 polyps and some babies. now I got like 6 polyps and bunch of babies again after like 2months.

The above acans were snagged for about $7.50 per polyp
Me and two buddies all chipped in, we will divide it up in a few weeks. I'm actually going to totally focus on micros, aussie acans and chalice corals and pretty much eliminate all the other corals from my frag tank
I've got about a dozen ultra cool color morphs arriving this week, maybe at some point we can do some trading

I feel same way..I have been thinking about downsizing my 75 to like a 20L for just acans and Micros...I really dont even want SPS anymore or any other corals really.

I fragged all my SPS so that I could get rid of them and I'm making the switch over to LPS. The only SPS that want to keep and grow are my monti's, superman, sunset, pokerstar and some digitata's, I'll also keep my chalice corals, but over all I'll be pretty dominated with aussies and micro's

Keep the 75 and make it a nice frag tank, I get a little nervous with anything less than a 75, smaller tanks are harder to maintain

ehhh..I am just sick of that big tank.
Also tired of paying for the 500w of halides on it as well.
I would be plenty happy with a 20L and some T5's and thats it.
id probably drill the 20L and give a 10g sump..lol
