What is good lighting for a 48inch 50gal tank??????????????????

Please help what is a good lighting/lighting system for a 48in 50 gal tank?

Price Range?
MH's are the best, followed by VHO's, T-5's, and PC's. (arguably in that order)

I've seen 48' 4X65w PC set ups in your price range. I have a JBJ Formosa 4'65w with fans and it works pretty nice. I've seen some other brands like orbit a bit lower than the JBJ. You would be able to keep softies and LPS higher up in the tank. I have various softies, a brain, a bubble and a frogspawn doing great under this amount of lighting. MH and VHO are better, but the set up I suggested would be in your price range.

MH are way out of my range right now but how much do VHO's run for. I want to keep clams softies and others right now I only have a URI light anyone know if these are any good?

Go with VHO or halide. I wish I would have done so. Besides being more intense than PCs VHO has so much better coloration. I will be switching over to VHO on my 20 here soon.
