what is green hair algea

What does green hair algea look like and what is it ,i have a frend that has like little clumps of grass/seedweed growing in his tank and i am trying to help him get rid of it.

Well green hair algae is GREEN and it looks like HAIR but its stuck in little clumps like normal algae, but you can get a Lawnmower Blennie there best for the job of Algae

its also usually a sign of an imbalance in the tank or phosphates in there. but the name is a good description of it looks like green hair on the rocks. there is also a red and brown hair algaes same as green but the other colors.

that is what he has so i tell him to get a Lawnmower Blennie any thing more he could do to get it out i think he has a 110 gal tank sorry dont know that much more just trying to help out a friend.

does it kill the coral when it gets that bad? he does not have it that bad but it is starting to get bad and it is moving to the sand.

yes if it gets bad enough it can kill corals by smoothering them out
