What is that growing in my filter?!?

I'm sorry because I don't have a camera, but I'll try my best to describe it. I would say they are teardrop shaped and white with the fat end stuck you the wall and then at the skinny end there are these hair-like things sticking out. They are about a 1/4 inch long and they are all over the inside of my filter. I'm sorry it's not much to go on.

i have the same thing. someone told me what they were about a year ago wheni first gotr them, bujt i forgot what they were called. some sort of hydroid maybe. the general response i got from people was that they were filter feeders that like to stay in high flow areas and are good for the tank. mine are all over my overflow box and sump and have never caused any problems.

Those are Q-tip sponges, harmless filter feeders. They filter feed on phytoplankton.
