I am new in setting up my tank...please tell me what is the difference in reef and non reef tank iterms of initial set up and also the type of fish that you can put in the tank. I really like odd fish and inverts.... anemones and seahorse and colorful fish...things that people dont normally see in a fish tank.
Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

it really depends what you want. lighting, what type of corals do you want to keep. most likely a protein skimmer (though i dont have one yet)
you cant keep seahorses with fast swimming fish because they will take all of the seahorses food. the seahorses from what i have read and asked ( iwanted some) they are very hard to keep.
how big is your tank. you might want to think about a deep sand bed and how much live rock you may have. we would really need to know more about your set up.
some fish are not good for a reef tank because they will eat the corals or the shrimp and some are just very aggressive.

if you want seahorse they are best kept in a small tank without other fish...some can get them to live with others...seahorse.org has lot of info on keeping them.

any thing that you don't see in the normal tank, they are properly hard to keep
example: seahorse, stingray, jelly fish, shark etc are extreemly hard to keep
damsel fish, clown fish, mushroom are very easy to take care.
make your choice wisely, save alot of head each and money
if you dont know ASK
I mean ASK the BB NOT the LFS
that what I/we do normally on this board
