What is the normal height to hang a MH Lamp?

Hello,
I am purchasing a metal halide lamp assy it has 1 single bulb 175W. The lamp is a bell type shaped lamp. I will be hanging it above the tank (20 Gal X-high tank) can anyone tell me about how high to hang it above the tank to help keep the water from overheating?
